Today we’d like to introduce you to Tara West.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Originally from Los Angeles, and I was born into fashion. My dream was always to be a stylist, and after my third child I launched Tara West Fashion. The business grew from word of mouth, working with private clients and local businesses. I’ve been a stylist in Boston for six years, and started blogging two years ago extending into the digital world.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My business journey exercises a lot of patience, because it takes time to get people to understand your mission. Taking the leap into the digital world was a risk because putting yourself out there is never easy, and you never know how people will respond. I was hesitant to do it, but I am seeing the benefits and growing in more directions. My advice would be to follow your passion, because if you love what you do it won’t feel like work. Take the leap!
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Tara West Fashion – what should we know?
I’m an independent personal stylist and consultant with one of Boston’s preeminent fashion blogs; having a nationwide following also particular to NYC and LA. I’ve been voted multiple times as Boston’s Best A-List Fashion Blog, and listed among the top 100 fashion blogs in the country. Having relaunched a newly branded blog, I’m also expanding across industries to talk about style in my new YouTube series, Dressed. Building my business from the ground up, working with my clients, and collaborating with national and international brands is what I’m proud of most.
Do you recommend any apps, books or podcasts that have been helpful to you?
I am constantly inspired by strong women running businesses. Victoria Beckham and J-Lo are apart of these women who have become their own brands and carry themselves with grace, I love that.
