Today we’d like to introduce you to Nastahja Cazeau.
Nastahja, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Nastahja’s Hair Bar was started in April 2016. My vision for the shop was to not only give my clients a more comfortable environment (we began in my living room) but to also give the upcoming stylist a place to start out. When I was younger there weren’t that many hair stylist Vets willing to extend to a hand or even an ear. I wanted to be that. It’s hard to have a resume full of experience if no one is willing to give you that chance to practice.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
A smooth road? Ha! Far from that but nonetheless it’s been very rewarding. I’ve learned a lot about myself, my inner strength, my patience level and a lot of the industry itself. Dealing with the public is never easy but people in our community don’t play about their hair so that within itself creates a challenge.
The most important advice I would give is to remain focused and faithful to yourself and more importantly God! No matter what gets in your way just remind yourself of WHY YOU ARE DOING IT! That daily reminder will keep you going. Giving up is never an option so don’t even allow it to become a thought.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Nastahja’s Hair Bar – what should we know?
We specialize in natural hair care. Although everyone loves our protective styles our biggest concern is to make sure underneath is taken care of as well.
I am most proud of our passion.
I honestly don’t think anything set me aside from others. I try not to think about things that way. Everyone is unique in their own way. I rather allow our clients to answer that question. I feel it may be genuine coming from the outside looking in.
Do you feel like there was something about the experiences you had growing up that played an outsized role in setting you up for success later in life?
My mom and dad instilled success in me from young. They both are business owners and I was always around to see both come up from the ground up. Me having a child also pushed me harder to give him what I had as a child and more.
