Today we’d like to introduce you to Tracy Kraus.
Tracy, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
We began our small chamber music “project” in 2006. What began as a response to hear more chamber music concerts in Worcester quickly grew to an organization that performs 15+ concerts in Greater Worcester and runs 2 successful education programs.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Yes! We have had tremendous support from our very first concert! Our audiences are loyal and generous and our donor base continues to grow. We have developed successful collaborative relationships with many of Worcester’s cultural organizations.
Please tell us about Worcester Chamber Music Society.
Our mission is to bring the transformative power of music to the Worcester community. We are known for our artistic excellence, interesting and stimulating programming, and varied concert offerings. We have four types of concerts: Main Stage informal venues, Café Concerts at a popular local restaurant, free Community Concerts, and our house concerts called Very Open Rehearsals.
Education is our passion, and we have two music education programs: ChamberFest and Neighborhood Strings.
ChamberFest is an intensive chamber music camp for ages 13-adult held on the campus of Clark University.
Neighborhood Strings is a free, inner-city strings program for underserved youth in Worcester’s Main South and Downtown neighborhoods
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Not a thing!
