Meet Samara Helfman of The Kid’s Place in Needham

Today we’d like to introduce you to Samara Helfman.

Owner Samara has always loved children. A graduate of Pine Manor College with a degree in child psychology, Samara taught nursery school for several years.

Though she enjoyed her work, she wanted to open her own business. The Kid’s Place was born in 2000, and has been building memories ever since!

She is constantly thinking of new projects and events to offer amazing customers and currently boasts six different projects.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s been smooth because of the support and committed customers!

The hardest obstacle was the economic rollercoaster.

During the stock market crash, people we’re hesitant to spend money.

Good news is: people always spend on their kids!!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with The Kid’s Place – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We provide a safe, fun and creative environment for kids and adults. We love seeing our repeat customers and meeting new ones! I think that is part of what sets us apart from other business…we really try to get to know everyone who walks in our door and are always thinking of ways to make their experience more enjoyable.

We offer a wide array of activities:

dishwasher/food/microwave safe pottery, canvas painting, gem mining, candle making, plaster painting and mosaics. The studio also offers clay imprints of hands and feet (which make great mementos for families). While catering to kids is our specialty, the studio also does special events for its adult fans as well, such as office parties, and Adult and Mom’s Nights Out.

Throughout the year, the studio also offers several weekly drop-off day camps during school vacation weeks as well as during the summer. Our camps offer not only arts & crafts but dancing, games, slush and pizza! We are also specialists at hosting birthday parties for all ages and field trips for schools and camps!

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
The Kid’s Place is constantly searching for fresh ideas, and new projects and pieces to add to the studio…you never know when you will find something new to do here!

We are looking forward to continuing to help children, adults and families create memorable experiences by growing our selection of pieces and projects.

Right now, we are already gearing up for the holiday season! We cannot wait to host some holiday-themed events such as paint your own Vintage Light-up Christmas Trees, Menorahs and ornaments. It was really successful and fun last year and we cannot wait to grow it even more this year!
