Today we’d like to introduce you to Robert Antonelli.
Robert, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
When I was 12 years old, my Papa left his giant VHS Handheld Recorder at my house. I immediately began making movies with my neighbors and friends. When no one was available, I created stop-action films with my Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle action figures. I was hooked. I loved telling stories and using video was such an exciting way to do it.
Since that moment, I’ve been involved in storytelling, video production and editing in some capacity almost every day. I’ve been behind the camera, in front of the camera, in the editing bay, and in a production room. I’ve worked in TV studios, radio stations, in professional theater and in music production.
About 5 years ago, with a wealth of knowledge at my back, I decided to put a name behind my passion. Thus began Antonelli Visual Media.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I’ve been very lucky and blessed that my journey has been so smooth. Perhaps my only obstacle has been myself. Like a lot of entrepreneurs, I put a lot of pressure on myself to be the absolute best that I can and sometimes that comes at a price. But besides battling that voice in my head, I’ve enjoyed every moment of my creative process.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Antonelli Visual Media story. Tell us more about the business.
Antonelli Visual Media is a video production company. I specialize in Wedding Filmmaking and the creation of Highlight Films that tell the story of a couple’s wedding through visuals, music, quotes, and sounds. Since starting AVM I think I’m most proud of the reactions I’ve received from my clients. When a bride and groom, their family members, and even their friends take the time to reach out and express the feelings they got from watching a film of mine, it’s priceless.
Of course, the wedding industry is huge and couples have a lot of options when it comes to Videographers – and there are so many talented ones! I think what sets me apart is my use of music and sound in my films. As a songwriter and musician, I start by creating the soundtrack first – finding the perfect song that matches the bride and groom. I find the beats, the rhythms, and the dynamics of the music and craft my story around those moments.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I definitely feel lucky to be doing what I do as a job, but I wouldn’t go so far as to say that luck has played a role. I believe I get what I put into this business and by staying positive and working hard, will continue to have success.
