Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Clausen.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Lauren. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Since my very first time on the mat, I have been in love with the practice of yoga. The asana, the breath, the energy – they inspired me and created a venue for movement and creativity that was missing from my life before. I am passionate about building human connection, creating community, and offering a safe space. Through teaching, I am able to share my passion for exploration with my own students and help them enjoy the benefits of yoga and the community of acro yoga.
I am a certified vinyasa yoga and AcroYoga teacher and have been teaching in the Boston area for almost 4 years. I have taught all over the city as well as in home and studios from Salem to the Cape. I am most excited teaching AcroYoga classes, though I continue to offer private yoga lessons.
I began teaching locally, organizing events and meet ups in the Boston Public Garden and have since grown my student base. I’ve taught workshops and at festivals across the US and internationally, most recently while traveling through Southeast Asia. This summer, I am very excited to be co-teaching AcroYoga at Wanderlust Festival in both Stratton, Vermont and Mont Tremblant, Canada.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The path of growing my business has been a slow one. One of the largest challenges is connecting with clients for 1 on 1 practice and reaching the people who could benefit most from the yoga and AcroYoga practices.
Also, I teach only part time. Therefore one of my major challenges has been building time into my schedule to continue to market and grow my business in addition to teaching classes.
Please tell us about Lauren Clausen Yoga.
My company is me. I am the only employee and teaching acro and yoga are my only products.
I am a certified AcroYoga and Vinyasa Yoga teacher in the Boston area. I offer public and private classes for yoga and acro yoga as well as Thai yoga massage.
I have been involved with the Boston AcroYoga community for over 7 years and been a leader in this community for over 4 years. I’ve helped grow the “new generation” of AcroYogis in Boston and some of my students have gone on to become teachers themselves. There are a handful of local AcroYoga teachers and we often co-teach classes of varying levels around the city.
I have a very strong understanding of the fundamentals and alignment and can help improve a student’s practice in group classes or individually. In private lessons I am able to focus 1 on 1 with students and work on what they are interested in learning. I also offer therapeutic Thai and fly sessions which are a mix of Thai yoga massage and therapeutic flying to experience the joys of flight while restoring your body.
