Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Lynch.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Jessica. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
As a child, I loved to photograph. I made sure to have a disposable camera throughout 90% of my life. As a perfectionist, I loved creating posed visual art — fine tuning every detail. I have an extensive background in birth and pregnancy, so photographing live births as well as maternity and newborns came second nature to me. It’s a very easy connection for me, as I fit seamlessly with this demographic.
I decided to dive into photography as a hobbyist/”professional” who began charging in 2015. Sharing my first images publicly was so nerve racking! I remember being so afraid of criticism, but I allowed criticism to propel me into perfecting my style, my composure, and my quality.
It’s been two years now of running my company, and a year and a half of being a studio owner. This year, I am expanding to a studio three times that of my initial size, with client experience in mind. I pride myself on supplying my clients with high-end portraiture experiences and products. Baby safety is my number one concern, first and foremost, and I hope to begin teaching workshops on this as well as business basics in the near future.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t! My business has been 100% self-supporting. I dove in with a single credit card, and have been able to keep my business afloat purely with its own income. Lots of doubtful remarks would stick in the back of my mind, but I’ve always made sure to trust myself and my journey.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Jessica Lynch Photography – what should we know?
I am a Fine Art Studio Photographer who specializes in Maternity and Newborn portraits. I do follow babies from birth to age 2, primarily. I am most known for my neutral, timeless style and my full-service business model. I style clients fully- from maternity and supplying gowns, to newborn and beyond. All of my babies are supplied with couture or true vintage pieces: custom outfits for their unique sessions. I help clients decorate their homes with images from our sessions – although all sessions take place in my studio or outdoors, I come to you for all product deliveries and even help you decorate your walls in the perfect arrangements. I am very proud of the experience I am able to offer my clients.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I feel my confidence is most important to my success. My confidence in my skill level and ability to properly and safely pose newborns is one that many parents feel comforted by. My clients are able to relax and even most times take a nap while I photograph their newborns. My clients come to me because they trust my ability to supply them with a high-end experience while having their baby’s safety and health as my number one priority!
