Meet Jackie and Matt Scanlon of Faithful Contracting in Braintree

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jackie Scanlon, Matt Scanlon.

Jackie and Matt, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
We first met back in 2010 working for the U.S. Census Bureau. At the time, Matt was recovering from a serious neck injury, and had been out of his normal line work of in construction. I just took a semester off from college to put some much needed money in my pocket. We both saw the job with the Census as temporary and a great way to make money. Who could’ve guessed before beginning the position I would meet my future husband? While working together, an attraction bloomed between us and we began to date. Within a few months, we were married. October (insert date), 2011 was the date, to be exact. Matt brought into our new family his son, Joseph, and within a year of our nuptials, we welcomed our first daughter, Faith. Somewhere around that time we started Faithful Flooring, as Matt felt he was able to return to the work he loved and excelled at. I tagged along in the beginning as his ‘little helper’. Matt’s dreamt of starting his own company for years, and I was a natural with tiles and installing flooring. With his expertise and ‘head-first’ approach, the two of us set off to build our empire. Toward the end of 2014 and the beginning of ’15, our business had taken flight, and we rebranded as’ Faithful Contracting. My time on the work sites dwindled considerably around this time, as well, due to our welcoming of our second daughter, Grace. Also during this period, our presence online grew, while Matt hired lots of help as our projects got bigger and bigger. Through word of mouth from our happy clients, and the reputation we cultivated on Facebook Mom’s Groups, our name has taken on a life of its own. I could not be more proud of where we’ve come from. to where we are now.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
After breaking his neck, Matt was at a very low point in his life and became dependent on the medication he was prescribed. Matt decided to get clean and sober, where I met him during the early stages of his journey towards sobriety. I witnessed the drive and passion he held within, and admired his perseverance through the early struggles. Everyone who knew him during those hard times saw the transformation and drive, as well. Matt was unstoppable. We started out with nothing except a few tools, the talents Matt acquired throughout his career, my work on our website and social media presence, and a whole lot of faith. Together, we were able to build something of our own.

At the time we didn’t have company shirts, so we would roll up to potential job sites from lead generating websites in our Chevy Cavalier (which had a manual transmission, btw) with ladder racks on top, pleading for someone to let us show them what we’re capable of and could build for them. As the jobs continued to roll in and people put their faith in us, we were able to stop paying for leads. Now, we’re able to rely solely on our name and reputation.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Faithful Contracting – what should we know?
