Meet Anne Doyle of Lasell Village in Newton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anne Doyle.

Anne, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
For the last three years, I have been serving as President of Lasell Village, and Vice President of Lasell College. This is an amazing place to work – the residents are so inspiring. Lasell Village is truly a community of people who care for each other.

Lasell Village is a lifelong learning community that puts education at its heart. We offer a warm and friendly environment for 65+ living for 225 residents on the campus of Lasell College in Newton, MA. Each year, our residents commit to a 450-hour personalized learning plan.

We work hard at being a transparent community and work closely with the Resident Advisory Council. Two residents serve on the Village Board of Trustees, and two more on the College Board of Trustees. We hold monthly meetings of managers and residents.

Has it been a smooth road?
There were issues about zoning when the College first began building, as the residents were initially skeptical about having a senior living community focused on education in their midst. However, they have since learned that we are a true Village community, and our foundation is education. We love welcoming our neighbors to our farmer’s market, concerts and other events at the Village!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Lasell Village – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Lasell Village is the only college-owned life plan community in the country where incoming residents commit to education. Other communities offer the chance to take courses, but here at the Village, it is required.

The Village offers personalized and intergenerational educational opportunities on the campus of Lasell College, and at the Village, award-winning health services, excellent food, friendly staff, entertainment, fitness and social programs to build friendships.

Each of our 16-residential building is named for an educator and houses a classroom or other common educational space (such as art studio, greenhouse or fitness room).
