Today we’d like to introduce you to Seth Campbell.
Seth, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
To be honest, I never really had any intention of going into or even becoming a photographer. For one, I had my sights set on other things that had no correlation to it. What really changed my mind was a conversation I had 4 years back with a friend of mine. We had been talking about a multitude of things and the topic of interests and passions had come up. I casually mentioned my interest in photography and what I knew of it at the time which wasn’t much. This was also around the same time when Instagram was on the rise, but still, it was just an app for me. Our conversation went on and I went into further detail of what I would want to do and my friend simply suggested that I “just do it”. I agreed that I should and for a whole week after we talked all I could think about was photography until I made the decision to act on it.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
From the very beginning, the main struggle was figuring out how to use a camera. Since I chose not to go to school or take a course on photography I relied heavily on Youtube, Google, and Pinterest as resources for any problems I ran into. I knew that any issues I had someone out there had them as well and figured out how to overcome. My advice for anyone starting out on this journey would be to be patient, be consistent and have fun with it.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into Lytework Images story. Tell us more about the business.
I would say for the most part I specialize in automotive, candids, long exposure, cityscapes, and landscapes. I love capturing everything but I mainly have known for capturing people in the genuine moments when no one thinks anyone is watching. I am truly proud of those essential split seconds that I am able to save and share with the world. The main thing that sets me apart from other photographers is my perspective and style. Those alone are my signature letting others know this was created by me.
What do you feel are the biggest barriers today to female leadership, in your industry or generally?
I don’t feel there are any barriers to female leadership in my industry. There is so much creative freedom for both men and women in photography it makes me love it even more. This is a great platform for everyone.
