Art & Life with Dash

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dash.

Dash, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
Born and raised in JP, Boston. been creating my whole life. I utilized different forms of art to cope with depression and anxiety. I have been a single father for years struggling to support my child myself and my art. I started putting my art on canvas about 5 years ago out of desperation to gain income. art shows forced me to deal with my social anxiety and is still a process. I have a brand I’m building and that I believe in and have been humbly building a foundation of supporters.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I do what I can with what I have in order to gain more. I paint mostly. I do not box in my imagination nor my talent. I have designed tattoos graphic designs clothing design act. I paint mostly acrylic on canvas but utilize my street art background by incorporating spray paint and a gritty bold look to stenciled pieces. I create prints stickers magnets and pins of my art. I have started a brand that I believe in. my logo is a new form of the peace sign incorporating an eye for the woke generation. we are ppl of peace yet knowledgeable of the world we live in and how to survive. I want ppl to simply see something new from my creations something inspiring to the next generation. I just want to play my part and do what I can to affect change and spread knowledge.

What would you recommend to an artist new to the city, or to art, in terms of meeting and connecting with other artists and creatives?
I suffer from social anxiety personally. getting my art and myself out there has been and continues to be a struggle. there’s no easy way to put it but to just leap in. socialize little by little with likeminded ppl. join social groups online for artists like on fb. experiment with local art shows and get to understand the social circles. then after you are somewhat familiar u can surround yourself with ppl that understand u and keep great vibes around u, having the right ppl around u is everything and very hard for artists but we can easily help each other.

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
I am currently working on my site dvsher.com which will include all my art, clothing and creations for sale. YouTube videos of tutorials and documented events and art sessions. I mainly use my Instagram @dvsher and Facebook “Dash” to promote network and sell to my supporters.
