Today we’d like to introduce you to Julianne Lesinski.
Julianne, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I mean, we could go all the way back to kindergarten here! You know, when arts and crafts was an actual part of our daily routine. I guess those bits just stuck on me. That instinct to create.
Growing up, I always had a disposable camera in my hand. But it wasn’t until after college that I really got into photography. I bought myself a DSLR camera, thinking photography would be a fun hobby. A new way to create! I got that camera and was instantly hooked. I studied exposure, composition, natural light, artificial light, the ins and outs of my camera – all of it. And of course, I brought that camera with me EVERYWHERE. I had never been more passionate about anything in my entire life. Photography fueled my soul. It pushed me. It inspired me. It made me HAPPY. So I did that crazy, unthinkable thing – I quit my 9-5 job in health insurance to pursue my passion – and haven’t looked back since.
Today, I’m a full time wedding, lifestyle and brand photographer. Based in Boston, and traveling wherever my clients want to take me. Working with companies like Wanderlust, Thrillist, Adidas and T-Mobile.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
Growing up, I would take photos of friends, family, etc. and would always say – “Let’s make memories!” It was basically my signature tagline. It’s funny to think about that now because even after transitioning to a professional level, my perception of photography really hasn’t changed much. To me, photography is all about the art of creating tangible memories of moments that people don’t want to forget. Creating images that tell a story. Images that freeze emotions in time.
That’s really why I do what I do. I want my clients to look back on their photos years from now, and relive the emotions they felt when the photos were taken. It’s truly such an honor and privilege to preserve personal stories for people in a way that will live on forever.
What would you recommend to an artist new to the city, or to art, in terms of meeting and connecting with other artists and creatives?
It’s so true! The majority of this job happens behind the scenes. In my living room, on my laptop, in my sweats, all alone. However, we’re living in a super cyber and social world and there are oodles of resources out there to help us connect with other likeminded humans and artists. I’ve made a lot of connections through social media just by keeping my eyes peeled for local meet-ups and community events. In my experience, the local artist community is supportive, welcoming, kind, and just as eager to grab coffee and make a new friend as I am. Flood your community with positive vibes and good things will follow. After all, we’re all in this together.
What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
You can find my work on my website, and social media channels.
Wedding packages start at $2,500.
