Art & Life with Isabella Frayne

Today we’d like to introduce you to Isabella Frayne.

Isabella, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I’ve always been drawn to art. I feel at home in an art gallery or a museum, it’s honestly my favorite place to be. I wouldn’t say my story is unique, most people just want an escape from life’s daily stresses and mine so happens to be art. I dabble with a few different mediums, so I generally take turns with them based on my mood.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I do a few different things. My three favorites are pouring mediums, mixed media where I use different types of paints and plaster, and lastly, your basic acrylic paintings. It all really depends on what type on how much of a mess I feel like making. I do a lot of abstract work, and sometimes I have themes. I tend to fall into an obsession with a color, with an art medium, or a certain image I saw somewhere, so I guess you could say that’s where my inspiration comes from. I paint things based on my moods or my feelings and in the process, I hope it makes you feel something too.

Artists rarely, if ever pursue art for the money. Nonetheless, we all have bills and responsibilities and many aspiring artists are discouraged from pursuing art due to financial reasons. Any advice or thoughts you’d like to share with prospective artists?
You really just have to do your research and shop around. Depending on where you are or what you’re doing there are always grants, art students can get a lot of help from that. Shop around for your art supplies, there is always a cheaper place to buy paint, canvases or whatever. There is always a way.
