Art & Life with Edberg Sam

Today we’d like to introduce you to Edberg Sam.

Edberg, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I am an Engineer with an eye for photography and Film-making. I was born and raised in the capital of Ghana, Accra. While in high school, I developed an interest in graphic design that has stuck throughout my life. It all started when I became interested in using Coral Draw to edit the pictures I would take of me and my friends back in Ghana and other vector images. Within a year I transitioned into Photoshop. Later, I moved to the US 8 years ago and became interested in fashion and even started my own clothing line – Modi Vivendi. This really pushed me further into photography as I design and take photos of the designs. Four years ago, I started taking photography more seriously. I bought myself a professional camera and spent hours practicing my craft.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I am a Photographer/Filmmaker. I want to record important moments in people’s lives while telling their story. I want to translate emotions and cultural experiences through my camera lens and photos. I want to let others express their creativity freely as I record them in video and add my own flare. My ultimate goal as a Photographer/Filmmaker is to create an emotional experience to my viewers by telling a story while enlightening them with new perspectives.

Do you think conditions are generally improving for artists? What more can cities and communities do to improve conditions for artists?
Life has become harder for artist these days because there is a lot of people doing the same everyone else is doing so it makes it hard to stand out. However, social media has made is easier for the work of artist to be seen. Cities like ours can help artist by supporting artist through purchasing and sharing their works.
