Meet The Wolff Sisters, Rachael, Kat, and Rebecca Wolff

Today we’d like to introduce you to The Wolff Sisters, Rachael Wolff, Kat Wolff, and Rebecca Wolff.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
We are three sisters that grew up in Hyde Park. We all began to play music at a young age, with Rachael and Rebecca taking guitar lessons and Kat teaching herself how to play piano. Our parents shared their love of music by exposing us to everything from Bonnie Raitt and The Rolling Stones to Springsteen and Dylan. They encouraged us to immerse ourselves in the arts and create as much as possible. We spent hours in our living room writing songs and playing music together. We started out playing benefit concerts, high school talent shows, and coffee houses. We never had a band name in the beginning, but people started recognizing us as The Wolff Sisters and the name stuck.

In college, the three of us got more serious about wanting to play music as a career, so we started gigging professionally at venues in and around Boston, including Atwood’s Tavern, Lizard Lounge, and Club Passim. After a few years of playing as an acoustic trio, we amplified our sound with the addition of Joe Soldati on bass and Will Rodriguez on drums, calling ourselves The Wolff Sisters & The Last Cavalry. We are an independent band and business. We manage, book, and promote ourselves without the help of a music label. We have released two albums, the most recent titled “Cahoon Hollow” and recorded at Dirt Floor Studios in CT. We currently tour all over the northeast.

Please tell us about your art.
We are folk-rock/blues musicians, writing and performing original music. Most of our songs are about our adventures in New England, the dizziness of young love, and wanderlust. We tell these stories through the lens of hazy summers on the Cape Cod National Seashore along with the mountains, rivers, and highways where we grew up. As songwriters, we are truth tellers, trying to make sense of the world around us in the hopes that people will find a meaningful connection to our art. We seek to spread positivity and love, connecting with others through our music and leaving all judgment at the door while touring the world.

As an artist, how do you define success and what quality or characteristic do you feel is essential to success as an artist?
One day, success is playing to a half empty bar room and having at least one person turn around and tell us that it made their night. Another day, success is finally finishing a song after one month of writer’s block. The next day, success is getting the call to open for Grammy-winning musician Jim Lauderdale and performing in front of a sold-out crowd. Success to us is reaping the rewards of living in the moment and taking everything step by step. However far we get, we know that we have made friends, fans, and meaningful memories that will last a lifetime.
