The Whiskey 6 Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Whiskey 6.

Thanks for sharing your story with us G. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
We have all been playing for years, together and apart in other projects. But, a few years ago, while the singer Samantha Pellerin and bass player Al Villagracia and I were involved in a project, I had asked them, are you guys interested in doing an original/cover country project? They both said absolutely! I said to them I know exactly who we need for this project.

So, I contacted keyboard Player Bill Deon and drummer Jay Dellisola. I didn’t want anybody else for this band, I just knew from playing with them previously that they would be a perfect fit. This is the core of Whiskey 6!! (However, we do have a fiddle player and a pedal steel player which will become a permanent part of the band very soon). Whiskey 6 was born!!!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Time was a concern because Samantha, Al and myself were still together on another project, we had to fulfill our obligations as Jay and Bill had to do the same. We knew it was going to be tough but nothing worthwhile is ever easy is it? So, we put our heads together and we came up with a plan.

Maybe we thought, it would be a good idea to incorporate Bill and Jay into our current project so we could get tight as a band again and they could get comfortable with Samantha? So, off we went and it just felt so good right from the beginning. It was like we never stopped playing together and the guys just loved Samantha!

Its funny Jay and Bill had come out to see us play one time when we were on a bill opening for George Clinton and that’s when I had asked them if they were interested in doing a country project. They both looked at each other and said with her?? Where do we sign? LOL. So yeah, we all fit together like a glove. Getting the right people for the project is half the battle. We all realized very quickly that country music was in all of our hearts all along.

Life just seemed to take us all on separate journeys which led us all to Whiskey 6. I knew the moment that I had met Samantha that she was a country girl, and as far as Whiskey 6 goes, she is the icing on the cake. However, we still had an issue with time. Since we were out gigging so much, we still had not gone completely country due to our obligations and we still had not recorded any of our original country material.

In the meantime, the only good thing was that the word was spreading around that we were breaking out with a new original country band. So we worked day and night sometimes all night into the next day. We were all wiped out but we got our original material recorded and we were finally all country!! Whiskey 6 Hits like a bomb!

Whiskey 6 – what else should we know?
First of all, I wouldn’t want to do this with anyone else other than these bandmates. We are all like family. We all have mutual respect for one another and we are always looking out for one another. That kind of thing just doesn’t happen anymore. Most people are just out for themselves only worrying about how far they can get, not worried about how far “WE” can get. Not Whiskey 6!! We are one! We are all in the same boat together.

When we write, whoever starts with an idea we are not afraid to bounce it off each other to get ideas and different opinions. Its all about the music with Whiskey 6. One thing for sure I can tell you is when you hear Whiskey 6, You’ll know it. Real catchy hooks and strong harmonies! Whiskey 6 is definitely a vocal country band. All of us sing There are not too many bands that can say that locally or nationally.

Whiskey 6 is still considered new but we have the recipe for success and we are coming on strong. Got your Whiskey 6 today?

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I’m sure I speak for everyone in Whiskey 6, For me, Whiskey 6 is already successful. It’s not about how many records you sell or how many venues you sell out. It’s about how you feel inside. It’s about how the music you write and perform makes other people feel.

When people that you don’t even know come up to you and say I love that song, when and where can I buy it? It let us know that people can relate to what we are writing. So, we must be doing something right. Fame and fortune are nice don’t get me wrong but it’s not everything.

We are simply looking to see how many people we can touch and if we succeed in making people feel good even ever so slightly, then Whiskey 6 did their job! That’s our marker.
