Meet Wendy Goldstein of Bobby’s Business Services in Hull

Today we’d like to introduce you to Wendy Goldstein.

Wendy, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Bobby Rabinovitz (woman- my mom) started the income tax preparation and bookkeeping business approximately 45 years ago as a single mom after working for her uncle’s in his accounting firm. She built a loyal and diverse clientele from police and firefighters to stockbrokers, to local small businesses. I moved back to Massachusetts after spending 11 years in NYC where I did accounting for a high end art gallery and tax preparation on the side. I had two young children and my goal was to build the business over the years so that when the kids were young I could work school hours and by the time the kids were high school age I would have enough work to keep me busy full time. With no advertising budget we did exactly that. We have approximately 1700 tax clients, small business, corporations, non-profits, and individuals as well as having expertise in complex stock options, IRS resolution and tax examinations(audits). The client base seemed to gravitate toward high net worth sales professionals, professional symphony musicians, financial advisors and tradespeople. We offer competitive pricing and a high quality product. We prepare taxes for all 50 states both in person and remotely. We pride ourselves in the details. The individuality of each client is what makes them special and is what makes our business both exciting and successful.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has been basically smooth….aside from the challenges of working with my mom- and the occasional struggle of finding workers who are willing to work for 13 weeks per year (tax season). The most difficult part is the long hours during tax season- basically 7 days per week for 13 weeks.

Please tell us about Bobby’s Business Services.

Our clients are quick to refer us without reservation.

Bobby was the accountant/bookkeeper for a small buisness in Duxbury I eas working at part-time. It was her encouragement that led me, as a single parent to purchase that business that turned into my own “rags to riches” story. That was 25 years ago and I have always loved my once a year visit to see her, Wendy and the rest of her wonderful staff.
