Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyler Sullivan.
Tyler, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
We are a third–generation, family-owned beauty supply distributor. In 1945 our former C.B. Sullivan Company was founded. The company grew to become largest beauty supply distributor on the East Coast of US. The company sold in 2010 to what is now known to beauty professionals as SalonCentric, a subsidiary of L’Oreal. We re-introduced Sullivan Beauty a few months ago (June, 2017) to offer Boston beauty professionals a quality distribution partner, with a trusted reputation, representing privately owned emerging brands, and focused on bespoke support customized for their needs.
Has it been a smooth road?
Grass-roots companies like ours always encounter bumps in the road along the way. With our recent expansion into Boston, we are working to develop our team quick enough to supply the growing demand for our brands. We have a certain reputation to uphold and so the balance is to hire quality team members while properly (yet, efficiently) nurture their on-boarding experience.

As a professional beauty supply distributor, we supply beauty & barber professionals with their products and tools of the trade; we provide them with continued education; and we assist them to actualize their business goals.
We are known for our progressive business practices, and as such, we focus on helping salons brand & differentiate themselves, hone their best practices & develop a quality digital strategy.
We are most proud of our legacy. We are fortunate that our father, CB Sullivan, set the bar for beauty suppliers’ reputations of what customer service and support should be. We are working hard to maintain that reputation.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
We love working with our Boston clients. The city has some of the most progressive, reputable & well-educated professionals in our market. As such, it keeps us on our toes to stay on top of current trends and market needs. For cosmetologist getting into the field, securing a job in the city pretty much guarantees that they will be getting fantastic continued education, which is a major benefit to young stylists.
