Meet Troi Lewis-Huff

Today we’d like to introduce you to Troi Lewis-Huff.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Troi. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Last May, my cousin, Kris Nevaeh Tyler, took me to an event that was apart of an organization for models and photographers called Girl Magic Meets! She took many beautiful pictures of me and from that day on I became very interested in modeling. We do shoots with that organization all of the time and we do our own separate shoots.

I can be shy in front of the camera, at first, but after I get comfortable it’s almost as if it comes naturally. I’ve never been into modeling because I didn’t think I was pretty enough for it. Since then, my self-esteem has gone up tremendously and modeling is one of my favorite things to do— besides dance and sing.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Most of my obstacles came from me. I was never really comfortable in front of the camera. Even though my friends and family members always said I was “pretty” or “beautiful”, I never believed them. The only time I actually agreed with them was my very first photo shoot. Other than that, it’s been a smooth road. I mostly work with one photographer, but I do work with others whenever presented with the opportunity to.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are known for and what you are most proud of with regards to your career so far.
I’m a model, dancer, singer (sometimes). I am known for modeling and dancing. Not well known but if you were to ask someone what I do, the answer would be model, dancer, or both. I am proud of how hard I work. I take direction very well. I also learn very quickly, but if something is difficult I will work on it until I get it right.

What were you like growing up?
I was a happy, musical kid growing up. Even though I didn’t have siblings that live with me, I still found ways to keep myself happy, like watching movies. I was always watching musicals.

My mother continuously tells me the story of how she heard me singing ‘Tomorrow’ from the 1982 musical, Annie, and thinking that the actual movie was playing. I was a bubbly kid, full of energy and words and always talking to anyone that was willing to listen.
