Today we’d like to introduce you to Tristan Govignon.
Tristan, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
As a result of growing up in the Boston area and having also spent a significant part of my life in Paris, France, appreciating and valuing the arts and culture has been ingrained in me. I enjoy translating the beauty and energy that I know exists in this world into artworks that can inspire people to see things differently and give them a new vantage point to consider their existence.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Working in the arts is always about passion. I love finding solutions through the creative process and sharing the artworks with appreciative clients provides me with endless satisfaction. My path has been filled with many challenges and rewards that have all taught me to work and grow my business with confidence.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Tristan Govignon Contemporary story. Tell us more about the business.
As a full-time artist with over 25 years of professional practice, I spend the majority of my time working in my South End art studio. The diverse media that I utilize allow me to share different stories from varied perspectives in ways that are tailored to their subject or intention. I produce and curate environments with galleries, businesses, interior designers, architects, and deal with clients locally as well as internationally. Affecting the mood of a place is extremely valuable and a privilege. I conceive commissioned artworks for existing environments and propose potential interventions that set the stage for new experiences.
My collaborations satisfy my constant curiosity and give me the opportunity to create unique contexts that will hopefully provoke thought and visceral enjoyment with those that interact with the artworks.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I am often told that I am lucky to have a life that is dedicated to the arts. I believe that foresight, faith, and perseverance have been my best allies.
