Today we’d like to introduce you to Zhana Levitsky.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Zhana. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started Yes Wolf Spirit in my heart long before the name or even location ever found me! I had wished for home base, a brick & mortar place where I could build a nest for magic and monthly energetic offerings for the community as well as facilitating my private healing practice. When I made this wish, I had a six-month-old, a teenage nephew living with me, was writing my Masters thesis at Harvard Extension School and was single-handedly running my other venture, YES Studios in Beverly Mass, which is a community art gallery and artist studios housed in a historic building right in the heart of Beverly’s Cultural District. After graduating, my focus turned again to my healing work and my life changed! I moved with my daughter from Salem to Rockport and began to germinate what is now Yes Wolf Spirit! The shop has unique, magical & handmade offerings for gifts or self-love! Think delicious vegan soaps, indie tarot decks and plant dyed bandanas galore. I carefully curate everything I sell. For example, I hand pick each crystal; seriously! The business cards are stamped in-house and I think folks can feel the resonant evidence of human care throughout the space when they visit. Yes Wolf Spirit is both shop & healing space and offers monthly community workshops such as a full moon meet-up, Shamanic journey circles on the new moon and a Tarot Salon where pros and newbies alike can practice the tarot and learn together!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
My biggest stumbling block has repeatedly been not giving enough juice to my dreams. Maybe because it felt selfish to focus on what I need my life to feel like, but that’s just it — no one is going to design your dream life for you, grab the reins early in life and don’t let others convince you to let go.
We’d love to hear more about Yes Wolf Spirit.
I grew up in Eastern Europe, where folk traditions are still alive and well within the over culture and felt the call into my gifts very early in life. Growing up empathic has many challenges but has enabled me to learn from many esoteric traditions how to navigate boundaries and not take on other peoples’ “stuff”. My skill set is the most valuable asset to my work and allows me to receive psychic information without becoming entangled in it. In my 20s, I worked for and studied with Laurie Cabot in Salem MA for years which added a foundation or system for my natural abilities and established practices. Since then, I’ve had many teachers and am currently in my 5th year of Shamanic initiation alongside my teacher Grace Walsh in Hull, MA. I received my Reiki Master at 21 years old, and have been offering to heal to others since shortly after. I read Tarot cards professionally and have been teaching the Tarot for over two years. But my Shamanic healing offerings & holding space for the public are my favorite offerings. My vocation truly is aligned with my soul’s work; this I’m proud of and hope to maintain as long as I am able!
Finding a mentor and building a network are often cited in studies as a major factor impacting one’s success. Do you have any advice or lessons to share regarding finding a mentor or networking in general?
Community building is essential. Show up to classes, meet folks, introduce yourself, ask how further you can integrate if called to.
