Today we’d like to introduce you to Miranda Lynn Wachter.
Miranda Lynn, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I first started in the beauty industry when I was 19 years old. I got my first job working at Lancome in Macy’s auburn mall here in Massachusetts. I had never worked in retail or had ever been trained in cosmetics. I was a Self-taught artist. I remember being on YouTube and tumblr and saying to myself I want to be like those girls with the perfect makeup. At the time, I was working at a family run shipping business and going to school for radiology.. one day I decided to quit school and to leave my job and start a new career In makeup which is when I found the Lancome counter. I worked for Lancome at Macy’s for just under two years. In my time there, I fell in love with the make up the industry. I loved servicing my clients, doing makeup and helping women feel empowered.
In 2013, I found Nordstrom and never looked back. The culture that Nordstrom stands for is unlike any other. The Nordstrom family empowers their employees to be the best at what they do. The training we get is second to none and we genuinely love our customers. I worked for Lancome as the counter manager for 3 and a half years until April 2017 when I stepped into the role as Beauty stylist for Nordstrom Natick. Through this role, I can service my customers, even more, I help guide customers through skin care, makeup and everything in between! I have done make up for some amazing photo shoots in Boston all the way to some beautiful brides and young girls for prom! I started my make up Instagram around the same time I stepped into the beauty stylist position. There a lot of amazing beauty bloggers out there so I just wanted to create a fun place for my clients and girls alike to go to and pick up tips and tricks. I love sharing my passion with the world of beauty!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I have had so many struggles along the way. My journey definitely has not been easy. I have been told I am too young, I don’t know what I am talking about, no one will take me seriously… there have been times I have wanted to quit, heck I even worked in clothing for 6 months because I believed what people said. What got me through all of that was my unwavering passion for what I do. Beauty is more than a job to me. It’s my passion. I have also had many struggles in my personal life. Family struggles, relationship issues. I don’t want those to define who I am as a person. My advice to anyone who is struggling personally or professionally is never given up. It sounds so cliche but you really do grow through what you go through. Just because you have a hard time doesn’t make you weak and you definitely aren’t your struggles! Own everything and tell yourself every day… I am a badass and I rock!

Which women have inspired you in your life?
My mom has been an inspiration to me. My mom and I had a tough relationship while I was growing up. I was not the easiest kid to handle and a lot of it I regret. My mom got divorced when I was 14 and my younger sister was 7. She took two kids and moved on with her life. My mom has always been a hard worker, at one point she was working 3 jobs to make sure we had everything we needed. Watching her be such a hard working single mom taught me that I need to depend on myself and myself only! You work hard and the world is yours!
My second inspiration is my friend Shelby. I have never met someone so willing to see the good in every person she meets. She forgives people for the bad they do and continues to see nothing but the good. She is the most caring mother to her little girl and has the biggest heart. She inspires me every day to be a better person and to try and see the good in the world instead of the ugly.
