Meet Trailblazer Jennifer Lauren Turner

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Lauren Turner.

Jennifer Lauren, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Miam Miam Macaronerie is a business that first began out of the love for French pastry, and specifically, the macaron! For such a small pastry, it is very complex. It is very versatile and can be a variety of colors, flavors, shapes, and sizes. After seeing the amazing macaronerie’s of Paris and NYC, we saw a need for a French macaron shop in Boston, that specialized in that delicious delicate dessert. Four years, many laughs, many tears, and too many burnt baking sheets to count, I still wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. I love the process of making beautiful AND delicious pastries, but not as much as I love to watch others eat them! 🙂

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
My entrepreneurial career has been anything but a smooth road. More like the expressway full of giant potholes. I had a baking teacher who I remember fondly because she was bubbly, positive, and everything you imagined a baker should be like: sweet. More than that, she said part of being a good chef was knowing how to recover from a kitchen disaster. You don’t always have time for a do-over, you have to make the best of what you got, but most importantly, act as if it was what you intended all along. That stuck with me. I feel like that’s sort of like life, and business. There have been a lot of potholes, but I believe every time we bounce back, we are stronger and better than we were before. Personally, I try to keep my head up, move forward, and be thankful for the lessons that the past taught me. If you are following your passion, you don’t give up.

We’d love to hear more about Miam Miam Macaronerie.
We specialize in French macarons. Our macarons are fully customizable, with a variety of flavors, colors, and can even be branded with full-color graphics.

Do you feel like there was something about the experiences you had growing up that played an outsized role in setting you up for success later in life?
I always seemed to get into things in the kitchen. Once, I had a kids cookbook, I was making everything from pickles, rock candy, to pet treats. My father owns his own business which influenced me to want to own my own business.
