Meet Trailblazer Imane Bouhennana

Today we’d like to introduce you to Imane Bouhennana.

Imane, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My love for the beauty industry started when I was at the young age of 8. Was obsessed with the fashion world. I would constantly sketch out clothing deigns, Kimora Lee Simmons was my idol at the time. As I got older, I was curious about behind the scenes of runways. That’s where my love for hair and makeup came into play, I loved how they would transform everyone on the runways. To see all the endless possibilities on looks you can create was amazing to me! I attended beauty school and got my license shortly after high school. I then worked at a full service salon in Harvard square for about a year when I decided cutting was not for me. Styling is really what sparked my passion, so I went to work for Drybar where I strengthened my styling skills. I am obsessed with updo’s, braids and I loved being able to create different looks through a blowout alone, shortly after my love for makeup came into play. I just love the general sense of making people feel amazing about themselves. I think it’s safe to say beauty in any form will uplift someones day. I am so fortunate to have met so many influential people in this industry as well as pick up many skills, tips and tricks of the trade over the past years that helped me build my brand Beaute By Imane. Venturing out on my own took a lot of courage but its all worth it to see my beauty brand grow.

Has it been a smooth road?
It was definitely not a smooth road. I would be lying if I said it was easy. Nothing great ever comes easy and thats, where we all need to remember that hard work and perseverance really, does pay off in the end. One of my biggest struggles was the fact that I got comfortable. I got comfortable for a year for a year at a full-service salon because I thought thats where I need to be in the industry. Going after what you want is the biggest advice I can give anyone. Get out of your comfort zone and take risks! I cannot stress enough to always stay learning. Education is never ending, styles constantly change. Along with getting out of your comfort zone, your net worth is worth as much as your network. Networking is key to pretty much everything! Meeting different people can lead to so many opportunities as well as doing some free work for exposure if it means working a fashion show or anything you can get your hands on!

We’d love to hear more about Beaute By Imane.
My work is a mixture of beauty services starting from hair styling, updo’s, makeup, henna and more for all events, weddings, fashion shows to house calls for busy bees like moms. I even do office calls for the ones who have no time to get things done with meetings all day but have a life outside of work to get ready for or just need a little pick me up in the office. I think its so important to feel amazing about yourself and that’s what Beaute By Imane is all about! Essentially just making everyone feel great as well as look great! Not everyone has the time in today’s busy life, so the fact that I offer services on the go is really appreciated by a lot who don’t have enough time.

Do you feel like there was something about the experiences you had growing up that played an outsized role in setting you up for success later in life?
Growing up, I wasn’t too fond of myself like many so hair and makeup played a huge role in my confidence. Just seeing your natural beauty enhanced helps uplift spirits, I could be having the worst day but if my hair looked good that would immediately change my mood. I’d instantly feel better off of the little things so I understand the impact this has on others. When you look good, you feel good and I knew whatever career path I decided to take in life, I wanted to make people feel good about themselves.
