Meet Trailblazer Courtney Little

Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney Little.

Courtney, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Many people ask me how or why I started the business. It all began years ago. At a very young age, I was diagnosed with an extremely rare medical condition (I’m one of 250 in the world that have been diagnosed). The condition negatively affected my immune system as well as my metabolism. My family and I were told there was “no cure” and I basically grew up in and out of Children’s Hospital in Boston with various medical issues. I was put on my first “diet” to try and manage some of the symptoms of this condition at age 7 and from there tried basically every diet you can think of. I learned very early on that diets don’t work. You have to heal your metabolism and body the right way. Through a lot of trial and error, self-study of food, herbs, vitamins, and schooling. I have been symptom-free of this condition for years and teaching others how to heal their body too through the modalities we offer at our office.

In 2007, shortly after college, I told family and loved ones I was ready to start my own business and was eager to share with others how to improve their health and wellness naturally. We were in a recession at the time and I was advised to “just wait Courtney” “you’re so young, work for awhile and save up money and then do it.” I am so glad I ignored everyone’s advice and listened to my gut. In 2007, I started my own practice, at the time, it was named Lifestyle Nutrition and in 2010, I changed the name to Nutrition & Whole Health Solutions, LLC. Eleven years later, we are still going strong and I feel so blessed to wake up every day and work with the MOST INCREDIBLE TEAM, who are so hardworking and passionate about helping others and work with clients that feel more like family.

Has it been a smooth road?
I went to school for nutrition and to help others, not to run a business. But, I quickly learned that in order to do my job and help others, I needed to be a smart businesswoman. So, I took some business courses and hired an incredible business consultant. Over the years, I have created a team of people who help me with all aspects of a business that are professionals in their field: lawyer, business advisor, accountant, etc.

If you don’t know something, never be afraid to ask an expert in that field. Doing this has helped me immensely over the years. You don’t have to do it all!

We’d love to hear more about Nutrition & Whole Health Solutions.
At Nutrition & Whole Health Solutions, LLC, we take our mission statement very seriously and strive for this on a daily basis:

“Our mission is to help as many people as we possibly can restore and maintain health, safely and naturally, and without the use of unnecessary drugs or surgeries.”

At NWHS, we see men, women, children, professional as well as Olympic athletes with various health concerns: weight loss/gain, hormone imbalances, autoimmune disease, colitis, IBS, fatigue, acne/other skin disorders, mood disorders and more.

One of the things that set us apart from others, is we create customized wellness programs for each individual that walks through our door. There is no “one diet that fits all,” that is why diets do not work and each person needs to be looked at uniquely. With our specific style of nutrition coaching, we help our clients change and improve their lifestyle, so their results last, not a quick fix or fad diet. Our goal is to teach each client why they feel the way they do and what they need to do to let their body specifically heal.

Which women have inspired you in your life?
Definitely my mother. She was a single mom, raised two kids all on her own and worked three jobs. She NEVER complained, was always happy and taught us to work hard and always be grateful for everything. I remember at night before bed, she made my brother and I go through the alphabet and name each thing we were grateful for starting with the letter A and ending with Z. She had a profound effect upon who I am today.
