Today we’d like to introduce you to Cheryl Marino.
Cheryl, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I opened the doors to Aria Salon & Spa in the spring of 2000 in Marina Bay. As a hairstylist I always had a passion for beauty and making people feel good. I wanted to create a place where clients would feel welcome, relax and experience an amazing service. We offer only the best in beauty care treatments and top quality products. Our talented team is dedicated to education to bring our clients all the newest trends in the beauty industry. We are like family. I’m so fortunate to be surrounded by a great team of beauty professionals and so many loyal clients over the past 18 years.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It is never easy owning your own business. It comes with many ups and downs and a lot of dedication as well as sacrifice. It means making tough decisions and facing challenges. I have learned a lot over the years. I never went to college but I did take take many business classes specific to my industry and still do! You must be willing to put in the “blood, sweat and tears” it takes to have success in a business. You really have to be willing to work 24 hours a day if necessary and change with the times. I think surrounding yourself with a support system at work and at home is really the key to making it and never giving up even though you may want to at times. I have never considered myself a boss, I prefer to be looked at as a leader to my team. I always try my best and sometimes that may not be enough but I still continue to try and be a better leader, business owner, hairstylist and mom.
We’d love to hear more about Aria Salon & Spa.
I’m a hairstylist and business owner. I’m passionate about the beauty industry. Because of social media I am constantly inspired, it pushes me to be better and work harder. I can’t get enough of watching videos and scrolling through the Instagrams of talented hairstylists, makeup artists, educators and beauty bloggers. At Aria I am most proud of our dedication to our clients who we are lucky enough to service everyday. I am most passionate about hair color, it is amazing how much it can transform your look!
