Meet Trailblazer Brittaney Allen

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittaney Allen.

Brittaney, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I grew up in foster care and for a long time, I never had a place to call my own. When I was 14 years old, I sat on the deck of my pale blue trailer and dreamed about what else might be out there for me. I wanted to go to Paris, kiss a boy, get a college degree. (Spoiler alert, I did all of those things.) I wanted to stop feeling my eyes well up every time I heard the phrase, “trailer trash.” That 14-year-old version of myself, the one who wondered if she would ever have a beautiful home to call her own. The one who wondered if she could have a life she was proud of. That 14-year-old version of myself pushed me to create a life that didn’t just look good on the outside, but one that felt good on the inside. So, I kissed a boy, graduated from a great university, ate macarons under the Eiffel Tower, and renovated my dream home.

During that renovation, I found my passion for interiors and people started to notice. Friends and family started asking my opinion on their own home projects and after offering more free advice than I could keep up with, Brittaney Allen Design was born. My business has blossomed since opening in August of 2017 and I am excited to see what the future brings. If I had a chance to find 14 years old me, I would hug her neck, maybe give her some hair advice, and let her know that big things were coming. Bigger than I ever imagined.

Has it been a smooth road?
Some days, my calendar is so full I can barely catch my breath, other days, I wonder if my phone will ever ring again. The trick is to keep going. They say that comparison is the thief of joy, so one of the biggest pieces of advice I can give is to stop comparing your journey to someone else. We are all in different stages of life and business and our worth is not measured by someone else’s success or failure.

We’d love to hear more about Brittaney Allen Design.
Brittaney Allen Design is a full-service design company that works with clients locally and all over the country to create beautiful spaces that you will love. I am known for creating luxurious spaces that are also approachable. I believe that there is so much more to interior design than just a pretty house. It’s about coming home. I love the relationships I have with my clients because they come into my life as a paying customer, but they leave a friend.

What’s the most important piece of advice you could give to a young woman just starting her career?
If you don’t believe in yourself, nobody will. Be confident in everything that you do. Accept the fact that you will stumble and fall a lot, but that is never a reason to quit. It’s a reason to buy knee pads. You just have to keep moving forward.
