Today we’d like to introduce you to Tracy Levesque.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I was born out in the Berkshires in Western Massachusetts in the 70’s and fell madly in love with Norman Rockwell’s work at a young age. I loved his lines and amazing storytelling ability. As a kid, he was my main inspiration to become artist. That and the absolutely beautiful landscapes that surrounded me. I loved creating, and no matter what life threw at me, it was a love affair that couldn’t be shaken.
The short story is, I went to college for other things and worked various jobs, found success in life, but my art always haunted me and I always wanted to give it all up and paint.
And so, I did. In 2011 Tracy Levesque Fine Arts was born and in 2012 I set up my studio at Western Avenue Studios in Lowell, MA where I’ve been creating and growing my business ever since.
Please tell us about your art.
I’m an acrylic painter. My paintings are a meditative dance between luscious texture, intense color and fine graphic line detail reminiscent of stained glass. I work all with palette knife and layering to create me visually three-dimensional work
Nature is my biggest influence in m current body of work. The light of the moon and the sun, the reflections on the water, all the movement and life just blow me away with emotion and so I put that same passion in my work.
My paintings are like meditations filled with movement and energy. I have a simple but very time-honored belief about art and that it is created with the sole intent to uplift people’s spirits. Art should be beautiful and make people feel wonderful things. We need more of that in the world and as an artist I feel it’s my privileged occupation to inspire people.
As an artist, how do you define success and what quality or characteristic do you feel is essential to success as an artist?
Success is doing what you love and finding people who love what you do.
How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
I do shows all over the Boston area, so if people check out my website at www.tracylevesque.us they’ll see and be able to purchase my work there and find a list of my shows as well as more info about me.
