Today we’d like to introduce you to Tony Buonopane.
Tony, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Bonaco Systems is an all in one Development company that provides overall support for Enterprise and Business Solutions.
I opened Bonaco Systems in the fall of 2002 after working as a Sub Contractor Developer for several years with various Technology Placement Groups.
As a Sub Contractor Developer, I was exposed to numerous technologies and disciplines and I had secured several new Contracts that allowed me to further increase my understanding of Enterprise Solutions.
One of my earlier Contracts was teaching Web Design and Visual Basic Programming. The position allowed me to Certify in many disciplines with Microsoft and by the end of the contract, I had accumulated 38 Certifications.
Ultimately, thanks to previous relationships, I was introduced to a large Corporate Customer who was having issues with their Current Software Vendor.
Taking advantage of my expertise in Back End Development, I quickly demonstrated to them my ability to solve their immediate problems as well as providing a long term architecture that allowed them to increase their project output by over 3000 percent.
Of course, this was not always easy on my family. The first 12 years where grueling and I rarely had time to be with my wife and kids. There were many nights where I would sleep at my office, or drive home to shower and come right back to work.
Luckily, things have gotten easier and I have pulled back some to allow more time with my family. All in all, I am happy where things are these days.
Bonaco Systems is still going strong and most of my customers are actually now my friends as well. I have worked with several for over 12 Years and my most recent Customer has been with me for five years.
I believe strongly in providing efficient and quality service to my customers and I have always been there when they needed me.
Some people may not believe that hard work pays off, but I have found that in most cases, if you put in 100 percent, it will be noticed and appreciated.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As mentioned, the long hours and the time away from the family was especially hard.
I have 2 Autistic Children and there was a long period where I was never there. My wife has never fully understood why I did what I did, but I knew that I had to make sure my family would be taken care of.
Bonaco Systems – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
What sets me apart from other Development companies is my ability to do everything that is required to create a Business Solution.
This includes setting up the Database, Server, Hosting, Network Configurations, and of course, writing the software.
There is not a technology I have not seen and there’s never been a problem I could not solve.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Every day is my proudest moment. I did all of this on my own.
