So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
The concept of NoBu.gs began while discussing the recent impact of the Zika Virus and the effects it is having on families at a global level. We were aware that insect repellent clothing existed, but we knew what was missing…a line of clothing specific to expectant mothers and their family. Our first item was the maternity shirt but shortly after we introduced the kid’s hoodie and baby onesie.
We also knew we wanted to be more involved with giving back to and simultaneously applied for a 501c3, non-profit organization, NoBit.es. Our line was developed for comfort, safety and affordability but we also know there are others that have a different view on affordability and therefore we look to give back whenever we can. We will be introducing a buy one give one campaign for the women’s hoodie this summer.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No business is easy I believe. Our first big challenge was to find the perfect fabric to use. Since our shirts often will Startups are challenging! We have a great team with a variety of expertise that helped us create and overcome these challenges. Our first big challenge was to find the perfect fabric for our line. We thought about what combinations would be prefect for all climates and what features would be needed. After much trial and error, samples and testing we found what we were looking for.
Our products combine a light weight and super comfortable fabric with the benefits of cooling, UPF +, anti-microbial, deodorizing and of course, insect repellent technology. Our line of clothing is registered with the EPA and is effective for up to 70 washings.

NoBu.gs specializes in affordable insect repellent clothing and gear for the family. Our goal is to keep families happy and healthy, our personal slogan for the company is “stop scratching, start smiling”. Our apparel and gear repels biting insects including mosquitos, ticks, fleas, chiggers, midge’s ants and flies.
If you love the beach in Massachusetts you know all about the nasty green heads! Or if you enjoy camping, hiking, BBQs, general outdoors and sometimes indoors as well, NoBu.gs is great for added assurance against mosquitos and ticks too! We’ve personally tested our products on 6 continents, from the beach to the jungle, night and day!
