Today we’d like to introduce you to Tim Dreher.
Tim graduated from Northeastern University in 1988. He was on staff at the University of California Medical Center, specializing in neurology and orthopedics. Later, he was the Senior PT at Kentfield Rehabilitation working in Fibromyalgia and Chronic Pain. He was on faculty at NU and now offers an internship for the PT program. Tim conducts training seminars for therapists on chronic pain, geriatric exercise, Yoga, Pilates and Tai Chi. He opened his private practice in 1998, focusing on orthopedics, geriatrics, pain management, strength training, massage and holistic wellness.
Has it been a smooth road?
Not at all. I actually had a tough start. I failed one of my clinical affiliations and lost my first job because the manager didn’t think I was a strong enough PT. But I really found my groove in neurology and rehab and grew to be a well-respected clinician. I got homesick in California and moved home to Massachusetts in 2004. I started in home care, as I love working with acute injuries and the elderly. I felt like I wanted to run a clinic on my own, with my own standards so started my outpatient clinic in Newton in 2007. Unlike most clinics, we only use PTs, not aides, and we do a full hour appointment, one-on-one.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Newton is such a beautiful town, where I lived for years before moving out onto a small kettle pond in Wayland. We are in West Newton, with a solid working class community of mostly Irish and Italian descendants. This means lots of great treats around the holiday season!
