Today we’d like to introduce you to Thuha Tran.
Thuha, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve always admired people who know what their goals/dreams are in life and strive hard to get there. I’ve always known that in order to achieve greatness you have to put a lot of work and be determined to get there. The only problem for me was that I didn’t know what it is that I was good at or what it is that I wanted to do. When Amy started Petals, it was just one woman business. I thought it was so cool that Amy who like me, had a full-time career but was able to turn aside hobby into a growing business that it is today. Many times, I think we pigeon hole ourselves into a certain category and it can hinder ourselves to taking chances we never thought we would take.
So, when asked to join Petals, I decided to take the chance and have not regretted it since. Both Amy and Petals have pushed me to grow in ways I never thought I could.
Has it been a smooth road?
Like every member of this team, I have a full-time career outside of Petals. Juggling between a full-time job where you work set hours to a side position where hours and time does not matter is a job within itself. But this is also what I love about petals. When one person has a lot of them on their plate, someone will step in and take more of the load. If someone isn’t able to make it to a certain meeting or pick up something, another person will fill in. We all have an understanding that sometimes life just gets busy as well so we do work together as a team to get things done.

Petals on Petals is a floral design company. We are known for creating exotic arrangements of floral design that is unique to each order. I think it’s unsaid in what she does but I feel like the leadership of Petals represents a lot of positive energy. I’m proud to be a part of a team that seeks to have a unique and personal touch to each and every arrangement ordered. I’m proud that every time someone gets an arrangement sent by Petals, they have that “wow” reaction. I’m proud to be part of a team that fosters creative ideas and is open to suggestions no matter how crazy it may sound.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Yes, I would recommend Boston as a place to start a business. Although Boston is a big city, in a lot of ways it feels like a small town. That small town feel can help foster and support start-up businesses.
