Today we’d like to introduce you to Tess Felber.
Tess, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve always worked in a pretty causal tech/startup environment for my day job as a recruiter wearing mostly jeans. I had this feeling that all of my sequin and glittery clothes were neglected in my closet and I had to come up with more of an excuse to wear what I really loved and felt the most like myself in. Sequins are the New Black was born in December of 2016!
My boyfriend, Greg is the reason my blog even exists. He pointed out how much time I was spending on other people’s blogs and Instagram and pushed me to start my own and he is the man behind most of my photos!
Has it been a smooth road?
The technical side of the blog has definitely been my biggest struggle! Working with WordPress and Lightroom for my photo editing has been a challenge and I am still learning how to work my DSLR. YouTube has been my saving grace.
I would also say staying consistent is my biggest weakness. There are some days I am really jazzed up and some days/ weeks/ months I want nothing to do with Instagram or my blog.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Sequins are the New Black – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Sequins are the New Black is a fashion and lifestyle blog, I specialize in how to add extra sparkle into your life and I love to preach about really affordable options! Most of the looks you’ll find are sequins (duh) or something flashy and typically always under $50.
I’m most proud of my partnership with Touchstone Crystal by Swarovski. I’m a huge jewelry fan and their pieces are so on point to my brand and what I love and represent!
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love living in Boston!! I’ve been working here for 6 years, lived here for 5 and I can’t see myself leaving anytime soon. I’ve lived in the Seaport and now the West End and I love how different every neighborhood is from the other! I’m also a HUGE walker and this city is so walk-able which has to be my favorite part.
