Meet Terry Felty of Big Sticks Golf in Metro West-Burlington

Today we’d like to introduce you to Terry Felty.

Terry opened Big Sticks Golf because our outside golfing season is so short in Massachusetts. An indoor golf learning facility is a great way to break up the winter, maintain your swing so by the time spring comes, you can be “golf ready”. He is a Class A PGA professional, Titleist Performance Institute Certified Golf Fitness Instructor and the Director of Instruction at Big Sticks Golf. He has been teaching golf for almost 20 years and started his career at PGA national.

Terry ended up taking his clubs and headed to New England after meeting someone from Boston.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One big struggle was the idea itself. Indoor golf was a new concept and some of the earlier equipment were not so good and didn’t help sell the idea.

Today there are still some people who believe the technology isn’t helping the game and the game should only be played outside. However-as the technology gets better and more popular, it is only natural that it will continue to play a factor in teaching and practicing golf.

I was named Massachusetts Teacher of the Year by the NEPGA and was also nominated the last several years for New England PGA teacher for the year. Earlier this year, I was also listed on Golf Digest’s 2016/2017 Top Golf instructors in Massachusetts.

I use my training and experience to help students reach their most efficient swing and works with each student and their physical strengths and limitations, to help them develop the best swing they can produce
