Today we’d like to introduce you to Teri Schindler (Gorman) and Manon Herzog.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Teri and Manon. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
After ten years of working together at a brand strategy firm, we saw significant and growing changes in the marketplace. With the growth of a platform-based economy, the disciplines of a brand, media/content, and technology are converging. We saw an opportunity to serve established and emerging businesses and leaders in this turbulent and exciting landscape. We consider ourselves structural strategists and work contemporaneously across the disciplines of brand, media, and technology.
The possibilities of today’s platform-driven marketplace are limitless and continuously unfolding – but so are the challenges. Business models, category definitions, competitive differentiators and consumer experiences increasingly blur, merge and emerge. We focus on helping leaders practically navigate this environment.
Current projects include work with Hollywood production companies, DARPA research and development efforts, and some of the most valuable brands in sports. Our work is global and cross-sector. herzogschindler.com
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
We’re two years in and have learned a lot from our clients, our partners, and each other. We’ve been gratified by the support of longtime professional friends and former clients.
Growing a young team is challenging as is going up against major players for work.
We have exceeded our original expectations – we want to play at the highest level and scale can be an issue, being female can be an issue, and not knowing what we don’t know can be an issue.
Coming from the NBA where you automatically work with leaders, representing yourself under your own banner is a new experience that demands a different approach.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Herzog & Schindler – what should we know?
We’re known for our work in brand, media, and technology.
We’re proud to be working with some of the smartest researchers on the future of R&D by developing a research acceleration platform with DARPA as a funding sponsor. Video: https://youtu.be/eesbkihNRjI
We’re collaborating with a global team of experts to change the entertainment experience in China in conjunction with one of the most valuable sports brands in the world.
We’re helping social impact pioneers in content reimagine their business models and expression.
We’re helping a world leader in industry organize their acquisition efforts and grow their digital presence.
Our long experience in building brands, working in media/content for the NBA, HBO, ESPN, NBC, and developing early technology platforms is a prime differentiator as is our point of view about the changes happening in the wider market.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Definitely had help – many and numerous.
Really proud that former clients have called to work with us – from the entertainment world to Timken, DARPA, and the Nantucket Project.
Former bosses and colleagues have been both supportive and significant in their efforts to introduce us to others.
Our young, global team has been tremendous in making our growth possible.
Mentors at the Celtics – Steve and Judy Pagliuca – have been instrumental in providing advice and access. My husband, Celtics announcer Mike Gorman, has been a constant source of support and inspiration.
Special shout out to James Grady at Axl Design for his collaboration.
And many more.
