Today we’d like to introduce you to Tim Difrancesco.
Tim, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
When I started as a student-athlete at Endicott College I was asked by my basketball coach to design our team’s strength & conditioning program. I was overwhelmed but excited for the challenge! I read every book, article and resource I could get my hands on related to designing a sport specific strength & conditioning program and even nailed together plywood to build plyometric jump boxes for our training.
I’m sure my first attempt at a comprehensive S&C program was limited at best but by the end of taking our team through it, I had my own teammates telling me that this was the most prepared that they’d been for a basketball season. This response galvanized my desire to immerse myself in this field and get as many chances as I could in my career to help people to reach their physical and performance goals.
After Endicott, I went to Umass Lowell to get my Doctorate in Physical Therapy. This helped me to become a better strength & conditioning coach and trainer. I took advantage of a unique opportunity to become the Head Athletic Trainer and S&C Coach for the Bakersfield Jam – an NBA minor league team in Bakersfield, CA. During my time in Bakersfield, the team was affiliated with the LA Lakers. This connection leads to me becoming the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach of the LA Lakers.
I spent 6 seasons with the LA Lakers and that’s when I decided it was time for me to get my family including my wife and 2-year-old daughter back to our roots, family and friends in New England. The draw of the family, as well as my vision for TD Athletes Edge, was strong and I listened to my heart and gut to make the move from LA back to Boston. The last year has been incredible for my family and for our business, TD Athletes Edge (www.tdathletesedge.com).

Has it been a smooth road?
Our team at TD Athletes Edge has made what might have been a very bumpy road quite smooth. I’m so lucky to have an incredible team of people who I get to learn from and grow with on a daily basis. When you start a business you know it won’t always be smooth but the people you get to do it with can make the challenge enjoyable or otherwise.
We never expected this process of getting started as a business to be easy but because we have a team of A+ people we enjoy every bit of the grind and the process.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
At TD Athletes Edge we’ll help you to cut through the noise of how to stay fit, healthy and continue to perform at a high level. We’re here to teach, guide, coach and support you through your training and fitness efforts regardless of your starting point or your goals. The details are important when you go to the gym and we’re here to help you to work harder while also working smarter. If you’re tired of the same old gym routine, unsure of how to get more out of your workouts, suffering from one injury to another or just need a jumpstart we’re here to support.
Each client starts with a comprehensive assessment of which allows our team to learn more about you. We want to know what’s worked, what hasn’t worked, what your goals are, your injury history and how you move. From the assessment, we can build your individualized training program. When you train with us you will always get individualized coaching in our unique shared training environment.
I’m most proud of our team at TD Athletes Edge! Our team is what sets us apart. I’ve never been around a group of people who are so dedicated to helping people around them to be the best version of themselves. It’s a special group with a special energy. Meet our team here: http://www.tdathletesedge.com/about/.
