Today we’d like to introduce you to Sylvie Raith.
Sylvie, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
When I was in middle school we focused a lot on different styles of art, and from there I’ve always been attached to it in a special way. I started my designs when I was in 7th grade and began selling them at my hometown stores. A lot of my art is a visual representation of my interest in the fashion world as well. Moving to Boston has provided a much larger platform for my business to flourish. I am also happy to say that I will be selling my designs throughout the Boston area as well as creating a website for my art.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not always been smooth sailing creating my designs. I have had troubles with knowing what or not to design, as far as if the public would in a sense approve, or like what I have to share. It has also been hard to create my art in general, because I am still in high school and school always comes first. Because of this, I have had to put my art on pause, which has affected my progression.
Please tell us about Sylvie Raith Designs.
My emerging business consists of art that I created inspired by fashion pieces. I am known for the contrast between the simplicity of the figures, and the elegant and bold flow of the dresses that makes the design really come together. I am proud of how far I have come considering my young age. I am fortunate to have found this passion and been able to make it into what it has become today. I think what sets me apart from others is the way the art can almost speak for itself. It creates a story and a movement that you can interpret your own way while remaining authentic.
