Today we’d like to introduce you to Susan Tasca.

Susan, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
A mother and daughter team, with backgrounds in jewelry design, have been creating one of a kind pieces for gifts for friends and relatives throughout the years. As the word spread, so did the requests, along with our growing collection of Earth’s treasures and unique gemstones.

Knowing that the stones are from around the world and each rooted with symbolic meaning, our mission to provide beautiful inspirational jewelry grew for all who shared our love of nature’s gifts.

We are inspired by the mountains, the sea and Earth’s natural treasures. The name Aspen & Salt holds a lot of meaning to us. My daughter has always been drawn to the mountains, bringing her inner peace, family connections and loving memories. I have always loved the ocean and the inspiration it brings, along with many cherished memories, and the spiritual energy I feel when near the sea.

Whether near the mountains or the sea or anywhere in between, we hope that the jewelry Aspen & Salt offers will bring positive energy, and will connect you to a special place or memory bringing inspiration and harmony. Our jewelry is lovingly made in Rhode Island and we take pride that each piece has its own special meaning.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The biggest challenge has been growing pains and keeping up with the demand as we grow and expand our line. We are determined to continue to grow and will work hard to increase social media awareness of our line.

Aspen & Salt is a jewelry line inspired by the mountains, sea and Earth’s natural treasures. My daughter and I have backgrounds in jewelry design. With a love for nature and each unique stone, combined with a passion for fashion, Aspen & Salt was born.

Our jewelry brings meaning and inspiration to the wearer based on the symbolic meaning of each stone or charm. Each piece is lovingly made in Rhode Island and comes on a display card with the meaning of the stone or charm. We carefully select beads from around the world and take great pride in the quality of the beads we use.

We are known for delicate styles bringing inspiration to the wearer. We know that each treasured moment spent with family or loved ones are the times that mean the most and memories we want to hold onto. Many of our styles are combined with charms to remind you of a special place or a wonderful memory bringing inspiration to each person’s own unique journey.

We are proud of how we began and where we have come. We are proud of our small but growing Endangered Species collection, bringing awareness about Endangered Species.

We are proud to donate a portion to charities that help protect these beautiful animals. It gives us great pride to create beautiful jewelry that can be enjoyed by many.

What were you like growing up?
My daughter & I are not much different from who we were when we were young.

I was always creative, thoughtful and treasured books that had inspirational quotes. I found meaning in the most simple things. I would collect stones and shells from the beach and along my travels and each one was special as I thought about their journey. As far back as I can remember, I have always loved animals and they were an important part of my life.

As a small child, I would save my allowance to donate to an anti-vivisection society. I currently support Endangered Species charities and Animal Humane Societies to help in any small way that I can. My daughter was always creative and made jewelry from just about anything she could find in our home. She would go to bead shops as a child and would spend hours creating. She loves to paint and draw, as well as has a love for photography. Her love for fashion combined with her keen eye for detail and beauty, along with her creativity is a perfect combination.

Our mother, daughter combination inspires us to keep creating and growing as individuals, as we follow our passions to develop our Aspen & Salt jewelry line and pass along our love for the Earth, its creatures, and the beauty it has to offer.
