Thanks for sharing your story with us. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
STITCH(ed) got its start 2 years ago when we were challenged to identify a go-to provider of personalized items. We wanted to create an experience where our customers could select from carefully sources items – from housewares, baby items, accessories bags and travel – and then, personalize it with monograms and other custom touches.
Our selling model aligns directly to our company mission – keeping it personal. As such, we focus our primary sales opportunity through trunk shows and local marketplaces in our local communities; as well as seasonal Pop-Up Shops in Needham.
We love working with our customers one-on-one to build the perfect gift – for a new baby, birthday, housewarming, graduation, wedding or to treat yourself! We have also partnered with Events companies and corporations to create branded gift packages and donation items.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
In a time when social and online shopping is more economical than traditional retail shopping – especially for a small company like STITCH(ed) – creating opportunities to actually share our products with customers is key. While they are not every day opportunities, partnering with other small local companies to open a seasonal Pop-Up Shop or to incentivize a group to host a Trunk Show in a new town, helps to create the in-person experience people enjoy!
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the STITCH(ed) Needham story. Tell us more about the business.
STITCH(ed) Needham specializes in creating unique gift items through monograms and other custom touches. We have a full line of products, ranging from baby and kid items, housewares and gifts, bags and accessories; perfect for day to day, travel and work.
When we began 2 years ago, one of our primary objectives was to be a local go-to business. We saw a void for this type of business in Needham and the surrounding towns; and we wanted our company to succeed there first before expanding further. Whether it be a housewarming gift set of local zip code wine glasses, linen coasters with a new address on them or a baby bib with Future Needham Rocket on it, creating items that tie people to their community – and us! – has been very rewarding. And because we are central to our customer base, being able to receive, complete and deliver orders back to our customers was essential as we began. Now, even with our customer base growing and expanding beyond this area, we still strive to keep our turn around at one week.
One of the greatest compliments we get is when someone calls and simply says, “I need a gift. I trust you to create something great”. Hearing this from customers means we have successfully delivered for them in the past or they have received a STITCH(ed) gift that they love that much. Other people love to give gifts; and creating something special with them is equally as rewarding. Being able to have a full product line that meets the high standards a great gift-giver is awesome!
