Meet Steven Sanchez of SoReal Sounds in North Shore

Today we’d like to introduce you to Steven Sanchez.

Steven, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have always loved music and as I became of driving age I gained a passion for cars. My love for music was so great that at a young age I was always trying to make whatever sound systems I had better. I would take apart my home speaker towers and try different things to see what would make improvements. When I got my first car I was rapidly trying to make improvements on my car stereo. Once I graduated high school I took that summer and attended a mobile electronics course and got certified. Straight from school I got a job at a local car audio shop and worked there for many years as I attended college getting an audio production degree. After graduating college I was always attending any trainings in the mobile electronics field because I love it so much. In the back of my mind I always thought how cool would it be to have my own car audio facility. So I spent spare time just thinking of things I would do if I had my own place. Came up with a name, drew my own logo, and bought domains names just in case I ever decided to go that route. After working for the local car audio shop for a little more than 8 years opportunities popped up in my lap and I said to myself it’s now or never. I’d rather say oops that did not work out versus what if. As I did not have a business background. Owning my own business taught me a lot, some things I had to learn the hard way. But I am firm believer that if you are doing what you are passionate about, do not focus on the money, focus on doing what you love to the best of your ability, don’t screw people over, and being honest will build trust / rapport. If you are doing what you love the money will come. SoReal Sounds has been open for a little over 7 years now and looking forward to many many more!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The hardest thing for us is finding qualified help. There are not many available skilled technicians. Most of the people who want jobs need to be heavily trained and quite frankly I just don’t have the time to do it. So having to be every role of the business everyday takes its toll because I am constantly running around multitasking. Luckily I love what I do and being able to say I have done what I have done with the limited help and resources is quite rewarding in its own.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the SoReal Sounds story. Tell us more about the business.
We offer many services but we are known for making audio systems sound so real it’s unreal! Nobody can tune an audio system like we can! Add our high quality installation to the mix and it’s a win win. Besides car audio we also do marine audio, motorcycle audio, security & remote start, window tinting, collision avoidance systems ( dash cams, back up cameras, back up sensors ), Bluetooth, navigation, GPS tracking, lighting enhancements, emergency strobe lighting, that’s just a few the list goes on.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t know if I believe in luck. I think everything happens for a reason. Good things are a blessing and bad things are a lesson. The important thing is to make sure you learn from the bad experiences so you cannot let history repeat itself. You need change to create change and you can expect to do the same thing every time and achieve different results.
