Has it been a smooth road?
This is an interesting question, Yes and living in the Boston area makes this even more interesting to answer. Nothing is easy. We just have to believe we can do what we love! I work hard at being better at my art. It was not always easy to get work. I learned to get out there and be the best that I can be! I keep pushing myself to be better and market myself and as a result, the business is here!

I am so very thankful for all the folks who hire me and are fans of Mr. Balloon Wizard. This is what keeps me going even in the tough times. To me, this is the real magic! Great question!

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Mr. Balloon Wizard story. Tell us more about the business.
I am Mr. Balloon Wizard and I also book other entertainers out through Promo Magic/Party New England. I am known for my unique balloons! As I mentioned I am known for my Bling! I love adding lights, Google eyes, feathers etc.

I make balloon dresses for fashion shows, Parade-ables, hair bands balloons and more! I have been in this business for almost 4 decades, as I started at age 10! I am also insured. God forbid anyone pops a balloon in their eyes or swallows one etc. I also run my own Balloon Convention and more in Las Vegas. Called the Bling Bling Jam. www.blingblingjam.com

The best balloon artists from around the world attend this event. I believe all of this sets me apart. As my slogan is “A Twist Above The Rest” I enjoy sharing with others in the same business as well and feel that if we all do good. “A rising tide raises all Ships” and it makes us look good as an industry! This way consumers understand our value/ Great Question!

Where do you see your industry going over the next 5-10 years?  Any big shifts, changes, trends, etc?
Yes, I think that magic and balloons have become competitive. The folks who are professional and treat it like a business we still be in business in 5-10 years! YouTube has changed a lot of this for folks. Again, if someone just wants a balloon anyone can learn that. If someone wants an entertainer than you hire a pro.

I believe that clients with social media and in this day and age will expect this when hiring. I think this is all exciting and great for folks like myself who have been around for almost 4 decades.

Pricing:

  • For a decent magician depending on the venue and how many folks a good range is from $350-a few thousand. I just depends on what the package is
  • For balloon twisting the average is $250-$350 per hour. Sometimes less and sometimes more!
