Today we’d like to introduce you to Steffany Colleran.
Steffany, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My love for fashion and beauty began at a very early age thanks to all the woman in my life, but it wasn’t until 2009 while working a desk job that I discovered beauty blogs and YouTube. I became obsessed with the beauty industry and knew I wanted to be part of it in whichever way I could. Fast forward to 2011 & living in Boston MA – at the time, a new wife and stay at home mother of two I finally decided to start my blog and YouTube channel. I named it, Steffany’s Choice. A blog where I would share my choices with the world; in beauty, fashion, and lifestyle. Since starting my blog in 2011, I have had many ups and downs, and while I was not always prioritizing my dreams of becoming a successful blogger I never stopped thinking about it or trying to get better at it. Behind the blog, I have many years of experience and study. I worked closely with a dermatologist for five years, have over ten years of experience as a makeup artist, graduated from a school of Esthetics, and opened up my first studio – where I worked for three years. I have been a makeup instructor teaching one on one, in workshops and large classrooms. Seven years later, now a mother of four, so many things in my life have changed except the love I have for sharing. I may not yet be where I want to be, I took many pauses along the way but the thought of quitting has never crossed my mind. Today I blog on a regular basis, mainly on Instagram and I have built strong relationships with brands and PR companies that keep me busy. My readers and I have a very close relationship and my DM’s are always full of questions and suggestions for products they want my opinion on. My Passion is sharing and I plan on doing so for as long as I love to do it.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As one can imagine kids can complicate things a bit, much more when there is four of them. My central struggle is to find a healthy balance to manage my personal life and my blog. To become a success at anything in life you must be consistent and this is not always possible when managing so many lives at once. On any given day my plans have shifted from recording a tutorial to spending the day in the Emergency room with one of the kids.
Steffany’s Choice – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I blog and record tutorials about everything that I am loving or not so much at the time, thanks to my experience as a makeup artist and Esthetician I feel confident in what I am looking for in the products I am trying. I share most everything with my readers on Instagram including but not limited to cooking, fitness, and mom life I take great pride in keeping it real with them. No filter
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
As a makeup artist/instructor was being asked by an old student to do her makeup for her wedding even though I was no longer doing makeup for weddings. As a blogger/influencer, my most recent proud moment was the amazing feedback I received from a collaboration I did with Gillette. I put a lot of thought into everything I take on no matter how big or small the project is, and I will say that I feel the proudest when the same brands reach out and want to collab again.
