Meet Stacy Madison of Stacy’s Juicebar in Needham

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stacy Madison.

Original founder of Stacy’s Pita Chip Company, Stacy has started her newest venture, Stacy’s Juicebar. It was created from the roots of when she had a food cart in downtown Boston serving healthy sandwiches and salads, Today, this is the basis of the juicebar. She combined this long term healthy food passion with what she learned being a board member of evolution juice (sold to Starbucks).

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Stacy’s Juicebar is certainly a smoother road than the pita chip company. Experience helps and so does being properly financed, however the juicebar biggest struggle is education the community on healthy living and food choices, but now after 4 years, people have caught on and we are a part of daily life in Needham. It’s not just about juicing- it’s about clean foods and eating a sandwich baked on bread made that morning, trying a brownie with cassava flour or an acai bowl. Staffing in the suburbs is also difficult.

Stacy’s Juicebar – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Juices, smoothies, acai bowls, hybrids (smoothies with a juice base), sandwiches, salads, quinoa, and fresh baked goods. We are most proud of our creativity with healthy foods and becoming a part of the community. I remember my brother-in-law walking in for the first time and saying, “WOW, are you sure this place isn’t too HIP for Needham?” it was both funny and now rewarding to be leading the way!

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Of course, all moms say having their kids, but just yesterday, my daughter said, “I am proud to call you my mommy”. You can’t beat that, coming from a 13-year-old!

Selling the pita chip company, bitter sweet, but certainly a proud moment. I am still proud of the product and the growth of the company.

Getting invited to the White House, many years ago, was exciting.
