Meet Stacey Borden of New Beginnings Reentry Services in Mattapan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stacey Borden.

Please tell us about New Beginnings Reentry Services.
Supporting and empowering formerly incarcerated women to successfully navigate the complex challenges of reentering their communities.

We will be offering these services once we acquire property; Case Management and coordination of services begins prior to admission to New Beginnings. The first phase is gathering information and designing an Individual Action Plan with the client’s input and goals. The plan will include all the services that the client will need to succeed in the program and once they complete the 18 month program. The case manager will assess, plan, implement, monitor and evaluate the plan for effectiveness.

Referrals outside New Beginnings may include but not limited to;

•Primary Care & Specialists Appointments

•Mental Health Counseling Treatment

•Family Reunification through the Department of Children and Families (DCF)

•Housing Advocacy

•Career Services (Job-Readiness Training, etc.)

•Relapse Prevention for Substance Abuse

As well as Counseling Services; such as;

* Expressive Therapy
* Labyrinth Walks
*Psycho-Drama Therapy
*CBT
* Substance Abuse Counseling
*GED Prep
* College Prep

•Arranging Community-Based Support Services.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
My focus has remained steady although it has been difficult with working a full time job as a Substance Abuse Counselor and trying to establish my organization. The ultimate goal is to have a Residential Reentry Program, migrating from Services to Residential.

We are in it’s infancy (grassroots organization), fundraising, corporate sponsorship and learning grant efforts!

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Well, I have gotten to the point in my life where I am grateful and acceptance of how my life evolved! I am a recovery addict, ex-offender whom suffered from traumatic experiences in life and have now found my purpose in assisting other women overcome their challenges.

    This is my little sister-she is as true as the sky is blue/grass is green/that God sustains us all. Believe in her, trust her, encourage her, ‘Please Support’ her dream. She has ‘never’ let go of this dream; nor forgotten those who desperately desire to live the quality of life that awaits them through ‘New Beginners Reentry Services.’
    Thank you in advance,
    Her Big.Sis Diane

    This amazing woman came into my life as i re-entered society as a broken soul. She made me believe again&by that i mean believe in myself even at 40yrs old. I trusted no one but pouring my life into this woman’s lap was oddly easy. She never judged me&i was able to work through some dark truths in my life with her. Thx to Stacey my life became so much more than staying away frm drugs&streetlife. I was taught there’s SO much more to life&i became a giver to this universe instead of a taker. I’m kinder&more patient because of this woman however i walk fiercely&proudly in my truth&Staceys always there aggressively supporting me! I care about all these women coming bk into society because Stacey showed me how to care about them! Being around Staceys passion&drive is infectious &i always pray to just slightly live up to the woman she is!! My spiritual gangster guide…what a journey! I love&support you Stacey Borden u beautiful soul!! Up up up my mentor!!💗💗

    I have known Stacey her whole life. She has overcome a life style that most didn’t survive. There is no end insight for her dreams. I have watched her grow from the time she came out of prison and she has relentlessly made a complete turn around. She is a productive, educated, and caring woman who wants to help others struggling with addiction and overcome the stigma of their criminal backgrounds. Keep up the great work Stacey.

    All I can say is that Stacey is an amazing woman whom I have had the pleasure of knowing and witnessing her fight her way back to the top. Stacey storms and story is what the true meaning of triumph and victory is all about when you don’t give up or give in. Any one’s set backs can be a comeback to something greater than the trials and tribulations Stacey is living proof of that. Stacey, I have much love and the utmost respect for you. Friends for life.
