Meet Sheyne Branconnier of SMILE Media in Theater District

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sheyne Branconnier.

Sheyne attended public school at Exeter Area High School, where he participated in a variety of team activities including baseball, track and field, and swimming. As captain, he led the swim team to its fifth consecutive state championship. In the summers, he attended Landmark School in Prides Crossing in Beverly, MA.

In 1992, Sheyne began at the University of New Hampshire, where he obtained an associate’s degree in business management. While continuing his education and pursuing the field of natural resource economics, Sheyne met Matthew W. Palis III (a student in the same program), and in 1996 co-founded Northeast Internet Publishing (NEIP). They later in 2001 sold NEIP to Seacoast Telecommunications (TTLC/Link2TheCloud). In 2015, Sheyne brokered the sale of TTLC to cloudScale365.

Sheyne’s foresight and vision regarding web computing have been central to the success of SMILE media. In addition to his passion for the Internet, Sheyne enjoys sailing, swimming, skiing, hiking and travel.

Has it been a smooth road?
The way has been like any other road, often smooth and fast, yet other times slow and uncomfortable. What has been important to our success is not to get comfortable and carless while it is going well, and not to get discouraged even though things don’t fall in our direction.

In fact, it seems we have learned our most valuable lessons during periods of discomfort, because that is when we are pushing ourselves the most. One must learn to get comfortable during these bumpy times, so that we can get better at foreseeing the issues and reacting more quickly. It’s like a pendulum, and at any time it could go the other way. As soon as you realize it could change in an instant, you will be ahead of the game.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
SMILE media is a website design, development and digital marketing agency aimed at improving business performance through technology efficiencies and analytics.

At the heart of SMILE, we are crafters of internet publishing, which means all the skills and resources required for getting things online, whether it be devices and/or information. This is a wide and varying skill set that includes everything from competitive analysis and branding, to copy writing, graphic design, video shooting and editing, mobile and desktop software development and marketing.

The product we are most proud of is not necessarily the most complex, but is by far the most successful in terms of users – attracting nearly 6 million users annually. The project was a website redesign for a company called Motorcycle Roads. They even have some local rides people can enjoy from here in Boston, MA.  Be sure to check them out, as many of the rides can equally be enjoyable by car: http://www.motorcycleroads.com/Routes/Massachusetts_97.html,

What separates SMILE from other web design and development agencies is that we measure our success by our client’s success – not just by the technology and skills we bring to the table, but by the effort and yield it obtained.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Yes, absolutely. Boston is a great city to start out in. It is manageable in size, a friendly and safe environment, and has a wide variety of skilled professionals with some of the best academic institutes in the world to help support future growth. It also provides good access to capital if needed. The only thing I would recommend that needs improvement is, not unlike any other city, would be finding a way to make the 12 miles radius of the commute in and out of the city easier.
