Today we’d like to introduce you to Shaun McCue.
Shaun, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My business partner Kevin Bradford had approached me in 2007 and asked me to partner with him to start a moving company. We quickly started our company and began to plan how we wanted to follow a business plan. From 2008 to 2015 had partnered with various moving companies as contractors. Over those years we independently began to handle our own clients. In late 2015 we began to see a strong following and had built a strong reputation and by 2016 had relieved ourselves from any contractor work and went to 100% independent. Since then we have continued to grow and build are reputation as a caring and customer driver company. Many realtors, leading agents and other professionals now refer us to their clients.
Our passion and dedication along with a staff of movers and a sales manager that al work hard and have shown great dedication continue to propel us forward.
We remain amazed each and every year and look forward to the continued service we provide to our clients.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I have freely spoken to others, whether college students, young entrepreneurs and just people in general that nothing is smooth when it comes to starting and running a business. You have your highs and you have your lows, appreciate the highs and learn from your lows.
Some struggles we have faced have been small such as just learning the Ins and outs of running a business, managing employees.
Some obstacles have been more difficult and have nearly broken us down but having a partner in a business that you outside of work are close with and consider family is what helps you hold yourself up. Recruiting good employees who care and want to reciprocate your model for each and every client has been hard but after all these years we have been blessed to have found a group of hard working and dedicated individuals who pride themselves in their work and the end product of each and every move.
There is a quote that has touched me and one that I share to many:
“Success is not final, failure is not fatal; it is the courage to continue that counts.”
-Winston Churchill
We’d love to hear more about your business.
We are a moving company that provides moving and storage related services to both household clients and to businesses. We specialize in household moves, it was where we started and it is what we love to do. You get that sense of satisfaction when someone see how you have cared for all their possessions and been there for them through their entire move. To see the smile and in some cases the tears of joy is something that can’t be replaced.
We are known for our care and attention to detail. You can see with the reviews and testimonials we have received. We and I say we because it’s not just myself nor my partner but for ‘everyone who works for us are proud of what we do it’s not just a job and not just stuff. We are moving someone possessions, things they have worked hard to buy, items they have inherited as well as keepsakes. We genuinely care for everything and treat it like it means the world to our client.
What sets us apart has become apparent, in talks with others we know that own moving companies is that as the owners we are very hands on. Kevin and I still partake in moves, we train and train our guys and push them to the expectation we have of them. When we schedule a crew for a move we don’t just put George, Eddie and Adam on move just because it satisfies the schedule. We get to know the job, know the customer and pick the crew that works best for the job situation and the type of person our client is. We take the time to make sure who we send out there is the best fit.
What were you like growing up?
As a child I was always determined, driven and didn’t like to go down path A because I was told it was the way to go, if I chose path B then I was going regardless of what others had to say. I had my flaws but in all honesty this business has shaped me as much as anything as in my life the last 10 years and I am proud to be whom and what I have become. I would classify myself as a type A personality with a strong mind set, I hate the idea of getting older and can’t stand thing about it. I have picked up world travel and in the past few years have traveled to South Africa, Botswana, Bulgaria several times, Germany and Holland. I have found appreciation of seeing other parts of the world, other cultures and being able to break my barriers that once held me back. When it comes to work we all put in many hours, on average it consumes 60 to 70 plus hours a week, to de-stress and free my mind I take up things like skydiving, shark cage diving and whatever else I can do to be a thrill seeker.
