Meet Amy Lambroukos-Silva of Ser Verde Shoes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Lambroukos-Silva.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Amy. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I discovered Spanish shoes while traveling and instantly fell in love with them. The comfort and style goes hand in hand. I came home and wore the few pairs that I had purchased over and over. They became my favorite shoes, and I couldn’t stop thinking that maybe I was on to a new business venture.

The beginning required some research and travel to find the best factory to work within Spain. I wanted to work with a family-owned business which most of them are in Spain. I wanted a family to work with that was truly passionate about what they do and after a few attempts with makers, I found the perfect team in Spain to work with.

I initially was going to start with a storefront in the south end of Boston, but then wasn’t sure if I wanted to commit that much going into this. So then, I decided to start at the SOWA market in my neighborhood. I loved the shoes but wanted to see how Boston reacted to the line and they love it.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Starting a business is a lot of work and requires much dedication. I think scheduling is a challenge, just the juggling of it all. I don’t speak much Spanish, so emailing tends to be tough and there is a time change with Spain, so that has worked as the best form of communicating but can tend to take longer.

The timing of the orders can be a challenge but we have gotten better at this. There is a lead time out of Spain, so I need to work with a cargo company and time it right for delivery when I will be in town. Also, keeping inventory was a challenge as well, but it has improved drastically over time.

Ser Verde Shoes – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I design and import handmade shoe line from Spain. We specialize in comfort and use eco-friendly materials to create a fashion-forward shoe with extreme comfort.

Our entire line is handcrafted in Spain which is known for their soft and beautiful leathers. All of our jute on our espadrilles comes from trees in Spain.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success takes time, just small successes for me has been when a customer loves our line. I get so excited when I spot someone wearing Ser Verde when I am out and about. I also love when my customers post them in our shoes on social media. I have had excellent luck with Instagram and met so many lovely people through it.

My market is working with smaller boutiques, I love New England and our line is also boat friendly too.
