Meet Sarah Fox of So Zen Spa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Fox.

Sarah, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
The idea started when a friend of mine was sick and in the hospital for a long period of time. Her sister and I were lamenting that it would be nice to be able to do something for her that would cheer her up, like ordering her a manicure. Shortly after that I had a conversation with my friend who was pregnant and had two small children at home. She joked that she hadn’t seen her feet in months and would love a manicure but couldn’t make it to the nail salon with her two children in tow.

And I thought: that’s what I’m going to do to! I’m going to start a business and bring these services to people where they are. Over time, before I started the business, the idea developed from just nails to include the services that we offer today. And there will be more to come!

At the time I decided to start So Zen Spa, I was working at a local university and became disillusioned with the job and needed a big change. After praying about it, decided that I should take action on this business idea. So, I took the leap, left my job and started So Zen Spa.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Entrepreneurship is difficult. It’s like having a baby, in the sense that people can tell you how hard it is, but you don’t actually understand until you embark on that journey yourself.

I’ve had many challenged including starting with very little capital, finding good quality people who can get the job done well, finding clients as a young company, running a business and being a mother. But if you love what you’re doing it’s worth the effort.

So Zen Spa – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
So Zen Spa is a beauty and wellness delivery service. In today’s busy world, it’s important that we take the time to care for ourselves. Our business started with the desire to make people feel good and offer services that promote good health and well-being. Our company values and the range of on-site services we provide set us apart. We offer massage, nails, skincare, waxing, hair and makeup services, all available in the comfort of your own space. In a stressed out society it’s important we do things that are beneficial for our minds and bodies and I’m proud to be able to make these services available in a convenient way.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is being able to do something I’m passionate about while adding positive value to people’s lives.
