Meet Samvedam Randles of Inner Arts Institute in Watertown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Samvedam Randles.

Samvedam, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I came to the USA in 1983 after graduating from my German University with an MA in psychology.

What drew me here was my continued involvement with a spiritual teacher from India, Shree Rajneesh, with whom I had been studying in India for the last few years.

At first I lived on the West coast where I studied Postural Integration and managed the Institute for Release and Integration in Mill Valley.

Has it been a smooth road?
Are there any smooth roads?

Following my own heart and spirit has brought me many unexpected joys and adventures and has also not been an easy ride.

What was hard?

Leaving my home country and my family of origin.

Stepping out with new methods such as breathwork or family constellations that are not yet seen as valued or are even described as “weird” or “unreal”.

Standing in the face of popular believes and asking people to open their minds and hearts to something new, asking to expand into something unknown, does often not go over that well.

When I began guiding spirit journeys, I learned that the week before people step into the unknown, fears and doubts rise in a large wave and I had to learn to hold ground and faith in the midst of these fears.

Our desert wisdom journey probably topped this experience. Knowing that we would be in the Sahara Desert with no shops available, no hospitals nearby, brought up waves of fears for most participants. And yet, it was one of the best transformational journeys I ever guided: https://innerartsinstitute.com/events2/spirit-journeys/vision-question-into-the-sahara-desert/

Currently we are in the midst of expanding our ability to offer vision quests and other retreats by creating a sanctuary in Amherst, Western Mass. We bought an old farm that is being re-vived into SaMa Sanctuary as we speak, and that has been another expansion into being able to be of service to the community. At the farm, we can offer workshops as well as be able to work with the elements and the earth in ways that the Watertown office does not allow.

And here I had to believe in something much bigger trying to happen than I thought myself capable, expand my beliefs and faith into the unknown. As it involves money and security issues, I have had to breathe and trust deeply. And it is coming along 🙂

We’d love to hear more about your business.
The Inner Arts Institute just created a new website and I love it. It was important to me that it not only give information but also was beautiful. https://innerartsinstitute.com

We are a group of facilitators who offer methods that help people and/or companies expand and open their state of consciousness, their hearts and minds. While we use different methods, we share similar values and often gather in the constellation circles.

It seems that we are all working with present “issues” or “problems” in ways that expand people’s way of understanding them and offers new perspectives. We also all have a spiritual understanding of our connectedness to a larger “field” or “whole” that we aim to align with.

Family constellations is an approach that goes beyond therapy and offers a unique understanding of ancestral issues and it expands our understanding of our personal issues into a larger picture. https://innerartsinstitute.com/family-constellations/

I feel proud of the quality of people in our group and the integrity they hold within themselves and with others.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Our city is a fine place to do this work.

There are so many folks who need assistance and are looking for help.

Marketing is not so easy as there is also a lot of competition out there.
