Today we’d like to introduce you to Samantha Mestone.
Samantha, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started my career late until life. I became a stylist in 2015 at the age of 25. I originally went to college for business and majored in HR. Working behind a desk was so unfulfilling and boring to me. I was unhappy and needed a change. I wanted more of a creative outlet that I truly had passion for and I’ve never been happier.
Has it been a smooth road?
It was tough going back to school with a younger age group and working two jobs to pay for everything. I was so nervous I wasn’t going to be good at coloring or cutting and that this would have been all a waste of time and effort but in the end it was totally worth it. I believe everything happens for a reason and where I am today proves that.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Carl Michael Salon story. Tell us more about the business.
I work at Carl Michael Salon in Danvers, Ma with the best group of co-workers. I specialize in balayage coloring. Not one balayage is done the same. I have a thorough consultation beforehand and create a look that is specifically for that one client only. I care more about the clients’ needs than mine own and always want them to leave the salon with a smile on their face!
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Hair color is always evolving. Everyday there is something new to learn and trends are coming back from the 80s and 90s. Hair is based on fashion. So the more eccentric the fashion world becomes they hair is soon to follow. My goal is to just keep educating myself on the latest trends and taking as many classes as I can to better myself and my work.
